As we all know, since the 1990s, prosperity and progress spawned a new assortment of entrepreneurs, collectors now have the desire to share their collections, coupled with enterprise (especially real estate), as well as the Western museum institution’s collision with native local culture, all of which have played a part in the birth of China's private museum. This marks the first stage of development of China's private museum. Zhang Zikang believes that “the museum has reached its second stage of development, private museums now have considerably large collections, they have developed a new group of collectors of whom are noticeably different from the first generation of collectors, with their position becoming more and more clear.

Addressing the third stage of development of private art museum and the Today Art Museum, Zhang Zikang notes: "The art museum’s hardware construction is relatively complete, but the software aspect is still lacking, improvement of conscious management and social awareness are required for long term sustainability. In terms of cognitive level in the arts, there has been a gradual formation of a type of ecosystem, this aspect demonstrates the true meaning of advancing forward. Hsieh Su-chen and current executive director Gao Peng, both have international management experience, in other aspects of operating experience they are much stronger than I am. Gao Peng has studied abroad; he has come into contact with a lot of other foreign museum directors, so you could say that in all aspects he is truly a national talent. While I was at the museum, I brought Gao Peng in, so I have a lot of trust in him. I think that as long as they are able to reflect deeply on today’s present situation, they will find a way to transform that will be much better, and more efficient than the original. Right now, Today Art Museum is in a transitional stage, it is necessary to leap to another concept.”

At the meeting, Today Art Museum’s current executive director, Gao Peng expressed his gratitude to Zhang Zikang and Hsieh Su-chen, two people with different styles of directing, and personal leading skills, one of which has extraordinary experience in local operations, the other having rich international management experience. He personally feels so lucky to have encountered such greatly respected teachers upon getting this job. He expressed his hope for Today Art Museum’s future development and transformation, by taking each matter step by step and paying close attention to the details of each exhibition a successful future is surely in the making. The scene is filled with elders ready to give guidance and support the museum’s younger generation, the younger generation is grateful for the older generation’s support, it is truly a scene of sincerity and compassion.
