Exhibition Preface

Adelio Sarro is a Brazilian artist, a painter and also a sculptor of thematic  monuments, fountains, reliefs, town gates, and glass paintings, and as he exhibits in wellknown galleries and museums worldwide, the Parisian art critic André Parinaud named him for the first time "the Global Brazilian".

This is his first exhibition in China after concluding a series of exhibitions in Europe, including Russia.

The Painter Sarro is one of the great visionaries who emerges as a witness to the phenomenon of the world’s revolution; a world with almost eight billion human beings and the proclamation of South America as the modern new continent, as predicted by Orozco, Diego Rivera and Siqueiros. He, in the blue sky of his canvas, projects the Brazilian hero; the barefooted, large handed farmer, running away from norms, a powerful and moving actor, the real character who witnesses forever the transition of a surviving society, that for a long time was Brazil, into a universe of promise and future.

In this Collection, meaningfully named “Force, Magic and Colours of Brazil”, the artist focuses on his vision of contemporary Brazil.  He calls the viewer’s attention to problems, such as violence and poverty, but also highlights the positive aspects like music, natural beauty and sports.

Sarro criticizes Brazilian reality by portraying Brazilian history, poverty, hunger, deforestation and corruption.  The expressive faces and the emphatic countenance of his characters convey his concern for social issues that are so important and so present in Brazilian society. Sarro presents the possibility of a better world, where art is valued for being one of the most genuine expressions of the human mind.
