Exhibition Preface

Spark, the project rooted in a reasonless logic from movies, absurd stories as well as exaggerated plots, is reflecting the modern time that we are now living in. Ugliness and boredom, happiness and irony, and the new logic between material and consumption have destroyed our understanding of traditional aesthetics, belief and dream. Under this circumstance, it is not a surprise that we found ourselves in a deep lost towards the understanding of who we really are.

What Spark intends to do is to find art in itself, and to find the truth based on logic and individual memory.
Artists who participate in Spark are all good at using their painting skills, images and symbols to express something deep inside their hearts.

The seemingly anxious and absurd painting is the portrayal of what’s inside the heart of an artist. It is a release from his emotion, a description of his living experience and his personal response towards reality.

The impact that the painting creates will highlights what was originally vague in it. That was also the reason why Spark was first established: finding something new in today’s art.

As we are now living in a world in which fragments and image clips are all over the place, it is reasonable to say that the accuracy of images and the force memory that it brings to us has greatly influenced our minds.

What the artists will do in Spark is how artists will clean fragments of ancient fossils. Only to remove the dust can we see the real shape of Utopia.
