Within Reach
Masters’ Editions

The efficiency of the current times is eye-opening. Things that were once held at a distance are now close at hand because of the convenience of the internet; it is difficult to adapt to the resulting inverse between light and heavy, virtual and real, cold and warm. On the other hand, things that were once within reach are becoming increasingly alienated, even strange and too precious to retain. A person’s experience of viewing art in reality, this physical relationship between objects and oneself, should not be ignored because of this evolution – this kind of experience is difficult to replace. This time, Today Art Museum partners with the British institution HENI to present the exhibition ‘Within Reach’, which is a thread that ties together art forms such as prints, tapestries and screens by international masters, allowing viewers to encounter these masterpieces in person.

Within the context of contemporary art and through the artworks on display, the artists' transmission of ideas, language exploration and media practice trigger the viewer's psychological perception and derives abundant thinking. It also extends from the empathy that naturally appears in the creative background, which can invoke the omnipresence of life and death, virtuality and existence. These lights, once shining at a distance, can now look at and converse with each other here.

By tracing, documenting and researching the tireless creations of artists, HENI Talks shares dialogues between intellectuals with the public and tells backstage stories in a detailed way. With a rigorous approach, HENI Publishing organizes and presents art history and art features objectively, inspiring self-awareness through contemplation.

Whether from the dimension of time and space, culture or concept, ‘distance’ is an important aesthetic proposition. The existence of such distance increases our respect of artworks, art history and art criticism and stimulates curious exploration. But art itself should never be separated from the general public. We believe that art is the inspiring essence of human spirit, it is a platform, a bridge and a link. We hope that we can work together on the trajectory of artistic development, surmount the barriers caused by the times and culture, and bring everyone spiritual satisfaction.
