Launched in 2013, the Wallpost Artist project aims at discovering and promoting contemporary young artists by recommending one that is excellent and active to the public every week. In 2016, the 1stWallpost Artist Exhibition was held in Today Art Museum, displaying works of nearly 100 extraordinary young artists who have received much attention over the past three years. They were recommended by well-known domestic critics, curators, artists, art institutions and professionals from art, media and edit fields, and chosen by a judging panel consisting of 12 famous domestic art critics, artists and curators. In this way, a complete recommendation and accreditation mechanism is formed to discover excellent young Chinese artists, providing them a platform for display and self-promotion, activating the contemporary art and promoting the development of contemporary Chinese youth art.      

Wall power: the 2ndWallpost Artist Exhibition will continuously uphold the principle of Wallpost Artist and recommend creative young artists as well as their works. The works selected are to focus on the most vivid and experimental contemporary art, covering fields of performance art, video art, interactive art, installation and sculpture art, and easel art. These artists pay attention to individuals, society, art itself and different ways of art creation. Specifically, some artists emphasize expressing personal experience and perception, with their works focusing on the body or alienation out of body and the imagination of body; some are devoted to the portrayal of life and social reality. They incorporate their perception of daily life into art creation and produce works based on social reality, either implicitly proposing social improvement solutions or expressing concerns for development issues; some focus on the visual interest of the work itself, often freely expressing themselves in art creation, and showing their thinking and logic in expanding the abstract art life; some use different methods of expression, either using the metaphorical ready-made items to express different ways of understanding the world and material, or displaying the neglected micro-world. Through their unique thinking and expression of the contemporary art, the artists selected represent the indispensible power and strength of this new era.     

Wall power: Wallpost Artist project recommends young artists every year, as a respect for art development, creative thinking and the new vitality growing in contemporary art. By recommending, encouraging and sponsoring young artists, organizers are committed to promoting the award development, gathering social forces to build a virtuous young artist developing system and fostering a strong voice and new “power” of Wall art.
