The Sonata of Vastness with
Ablaze Energy @ Ironware Anthology
“Beacon towers sit along the
northern frontier and their smoke fly pass his mind”—the infinite wilderness of
his hometown, Zhang Jiakou, influenced him a lot, not only for his character
but also for his art. During valiant struggle period, like fierce leopard or
heroic knight, Ding Li did his large-scaled public artwork and installation
with varied materials, including carved metal, patterned textile, etc.
At midnight, the smoke of
firewood is sprawling in all directions; turtledoves and magpies are competing
flying cross the night sky. Soon, we can see Ding Li’s candle-burning effort
all through the night. He finds himself powerfully drawn to his creation
atmosphere and spiritual attitude—layers and layers of color paints penetrate
into the canvas surface, which pouring out the blaze of his inner feelings onto
canvas. Without a thought of self, he is wielding paintbrushes crazily and integrating
his flesh and faith into his art. In the space of loss of time, Picasso piled
impish and mischievous color geometry; on the mountains with numerous metal
scraps, Ding Li captures inspiration and constructs his dreaming plans.
Like broadswords chiseling
stone, Ding Li’s sharpen and vigorous lines are drawn by incisive brushes with
speed. His heron-like paintings trigger the imagination of large-scaled pond
which is smashed by the mountain rough rocks—phantom shadow penetrates layers
of icy blocks, straightly to the bottom. Ding Li’s ambition, like secret
incantational light, enlightens pond sludge and wakens aqua plants and all
creatures.
