Exhibition Preface

Cao Dunfu’s landscape painting show the classical brush-and-ink quintessence as well as the combination of iconic reflection and structural text from western art field. As an artist, Mr. Cao focuses on personal interest and expression, revealing his unique personal temperament.

The way he is creating art presents a contemporary artist’s vision which emphasize artists’ self-expression and themselves’ aesthetic value. Also he consciously deal with the relationships between brush-and-ink, landscape scene and spiritual scene; relationships between structure and layers of peaks and hills. Therefore, his art has both logic of painting language and character of brush-and-ink.
