Exhibition Preface

Could you stop hearing and just see the world? Or close your eyes and just hear the world? For many people it might sound rediculous. But if you think about the blind and the deaf people, who are limited to either way of learning about the world wirhout harassing them from building up a sensual world with material richness. Metaphasical thinking might lead to aestheics which forms a key to unlock obstacles that you face.

The exhibition explores the possibility to connect hearing and seeing, to let those who are more inclined to music come closer to paintings. The four artists Jiang Zhi, Liang Yuanwei, Cai Lei and He'An respectively use photography, mural, painting and installation to present their ideas. In my opinion, their works represent four directions in art. I chose the improvising Gu Qin pieces of Li Xiangting and Mei Guoxiao , Bach's unaccompanied Cello suites, piano pieces of Chopin and the chamber music of Schoenberg as the backgrond of the exhibition. Whether you are a music lover or visual art lover, you could approach the exhibition in an alternative sensual channel.

The inner connection between sound and vision would open a new window for you to explore the world. Is viewing easier when vision and hearing are integrated? Is hearing becoming sharper? We hope that you would slow down your paces and relax your eyes and ears to let all your senses connect and gradually enhance one another.
