Exhibition Preface

Over the course of two years, the artists in this exhibition have strived to explore contemporary issues of man's existentialism in relation to their own cultures and social systems.  The result is a body of work that intends to intrigue, provoke and challenge the viewer. They address large cultural issues such as China's constant physical and societal changes and their adoption of the West's ideology (a desire for instant gratification and a 'want everything for nothing' culture).
They look at the boundaries between personal morality and societal ethical considerations, where the individual ends and the group begins, as well as how one reacts to the introspection they carry out in their artwork. Personal and internal struggles are replicated in artworks, in which these artists look at their past and experiences in retrospection to reflect and dwell on the subtle emotion nuances in daily life.
This exhibition is a coming together of artists of the same generation and is a perfect opportunity to provide us with a broader understanding of Contemporary issues in art.——Tamara Palmer
