Exhibition Preface

The thought of change and growth may directly focuses on the universe and certain ultimate issues. It indeed needs courage and energy to interpret this topic in the way of visual art!
Li Xi, a mother of two kids, represents her cognition to the universe by choosing the Chinese “lines”in spite of her major in painting. She has insisted on such an exploration for 12 years. What is the interest and meaning of brush-and-ink? What is the under-meaning between the lines? What is forgetting of both objective and oneself? To answer these questions, Li Xi has been keeping on her daily course day after day in a reflection manner. The lines from her brush-and-ink connect to the hands, the hearts as well as all manifestations of nature. After 12 years of practice and training, she has hammered her inside to the two words, change and growth, as follows:

Change to grow, and change to grow, change brings grow;
To change its form, is change its time;
What is to grow to change, and what is to change to grow;
Without change there is no growth, without growth there is no change ;
Change without growth, finally to change to grow.
In Li Xi's solo exhibition,she represents her thought by taking the philosophy as the starting point and painting image as the end point.
