Yuan Qingyi is stable and restrained in character, and his works are neither eye-catching in perception stimulus nor the vanguardism leading the trend of the times. Over the years, he has always kept his own specific speculative language, and his classic works bloomed outside the times, which could withstand the tests and become time-refreshed. As Yuan Qingyi said, “painting doesn’t always have the brand of the times, and I’m more willing to pursue such things as the thought origin and the painting language essence. I don’t hope to limit the picture in a certain times and I hope to surpass it.”
Over 30 oil paintings will be exhibited in the exhibition, not only with such classic works as Spring is Coming and Ashtray, but also lots of new works after he returned to the art circle including Happy Time and Chinese Elements, etc.
