Backing to childhood is a desiring journey in vain. At the cost of the human nature, social advancements often result in alienation and materialization. Civilization is not a guarantee of welfare, the sky is blue no more, rivers polluted, forest ruined, farms decayed. The painting work of Xiong Yi is a dreamy homeland bringing us back to the land for which we long for in our dreams but can never arrive. Similar to civilization, art itself is formularized by its sophistication, which provokes our fruitless efforts back to the primitive state and restart the spiritual art journey.
