Exhibition Preface

"Music to My Eyes" is the first exhibition of "Fat Art" series, which is an annual large-scale interactive art show, created and established by Modern Sky and Today Art Museum in 2009.

?

The art project “Fat Art: Music to My Eyes” is an exhibition of visual art distinguished by its relationship with sound and music.

?

Since the birth of Modernism, music and art have provided mutual inspiration for a vast array of creative projects, from the theatre, opera, to film, action art, performance, video art and installation. Music and visual arts have a long history of mutual attraction and cross-influence.Inspired by this, Today Art Museum joins forces with Modern Sky, and invites Karen Smith to curate an exhibition that brings together artists and musicians, sound and vision, to create a dynamic and compelling show of works that offer music for the eyes.

?

To accompany the exhibition, “Fat Arts” presents a series of “Fat” themed activities. “Fat Sounds” is the 3 day mini outdoor music festival, “Fat Talks” and “Fat Films” are lectures and screenings presented by the participating artists. “Fat Gadgets” is the interactive digital design session. On spot “Fat Food” will be provided. And you can also find a “Fat Shop” that sells official prints and merchandise. These activities aim to make the art show more interactive, fashionable and more youth-friendly.

?

Another importance piece of Fat Art is the Fat Art Magazine. It’s the information portal of the art show and is also a crossover act of latest cultural updates, with unique “fat” flavour.
