Exhibition Preface

Han Shaoguang has been pursuing art for over 30 years. Through constant traveling and learning he accomplished his life's resume. Such path of life is also echoing the age of massive migration of population in modern Chinese society. A historical melodrama featuring land on the move and images on the move is kept put on show. Han Shaoguang's art matured and perfected in such social structural upheavals. His recent works have the profound connotation of expressionism as well as the magical sights of surrealism. In retrospect of the tradition, he put more vision and thought into what is taking place in contemporary time. His artistic practice embodies the impacts of religion and philosophy on human spirit. From the unique perspective of an artist, he explores the spiritual and temperamental conditions. He depicts all walks of life, yet not real-to-life individuals. These lives, being represented in the rise and fall of mountains, are an reaction coming from Han Shaoguang's experience in life. They symbolize the height of the gods and the myth of the moving life. It also confirms the meaning of the world through images and expounds the meaning of life through continuous artistic activities.
