From Blueprint to Aura – Wei Qi Solo Exhibition
On January 10, 2026, the solo exhibition "From Blueprint to Aura" by artist Wei Qi opened on the first floor of Building 2 at Today Art Museum. The exhibition systematically presents his creative sequence from the past three years, featuring nearly 30 paintings that collectively reflect on and explore painting practice amid the wave of technological development.
The theme "From Blueprint to Aura" reveals the conceptual core of Wei Qi's painting practice. Distinguished from traditional creative logic, his artistic approach is built upon an ongoing exploration of the dialectical relationship between certainty and contingency, while also interpreting the profound connection between humanity and technology in the act of creation. By integrating digital technology with painterly language, Wei Qi has developed a self-
contesting creative mechanism. His practice offers a constructive methodological pathway for contemporary painting to respond to the challenges of a technological era.
At a time when algorithms increasingly intervene in artistic production, Wei Qi’s practice offers a calm and clear path. He entrusts the generation of form to digital logic, while reserving the most precious aspects of creation—chance and judgment—for the human hand. The exhibition ultimately becomes a dialogue between the visible “aura” and the concealed “blueprint,” leaving behind an open visual response to the layered possibilities of art in the digital age.
Through Wei Qi’s complete creative sequence in "From Blueprint to Aura," this exhibition systematically presents a conscious pathway for painting practice in the digital era. It not only reflects the dialectical conversation the artist establishes between algorithmic logic and manual execution, but also demonstrates the ongoing exploration of contemporary painting at both methodological and ontological levels amid technological intervention. The entire exhibition can be seen as a visible act of art, providing a concrete and open space for reflecting on the relationship between rationality and sensibility, planning and spontaneity in the creative process.
