【Review】Today Art Museum built the largest Private Art Museum Volunteer Practice and Employment Base in China

On March 20th, 2014, Today Art Museum signed agreement of Volunteer Practice and Employment Base with Central Academy of Fine Arts, and held a ceremony on “CAFA Practice and Employment Base Signing and Awarding Fair”. This is the very first time that CAFA cooperate with private art museum to build a practice base and Today Art Museum is the only private art museum CAFA collaborate with. Since May 2011, the start of Private Art Museum Volunteer Practice and Employment Base Project, Today Art Museum has established cooperation with 11 universities of internship (volunteer) bases by March 20th, 2014. By now, the largest private art museum volunteer cluster has formed in China and nearly thousand of interns (volunteers) were trained and worked in Today Art Museum.

Volunteers are the largest out of museum service force for art museums, especially private art museums. In addition, art museums are the most important places of social practice for art volunteers. A significant difference between nonprofit and profit art museums is the function of education, which could be completed by two-way interaction services between volunteers and museums----Art museums provide art management training for those volunteers, meanwhile, volunteers could practice their knowledge in base as well as introduce art to public. Thus, in certain level, the size of the volunteer team of an art museum presents the strength of its educational function.

Today Art Museum has become the largest volunteer practice and employment base as well as the largest cluster of art volunteers among all the private art museums in China.
