Seminar Introduction
Jannis Kounellis ''Translating China'', curated by Huang Du opened on the November 19th,2011 at Today Art Museum. The exhibition was both the artist’s unique creation based on his thoughts in china, and the artist’s first solo exhibition in china. The artwork had shown the artist’s analysis on Chinese society and culture, continuing to work in materials and approaches—coal, steel, copper plate, hemp bag, wood and other materials with Chinese elements-antique ceramic pieces, ceramic bowls, white cloth, and army coats were gathered into different images and relationships onto the steel sheets.
