Exhibition Preface

The opening of “The Rhythm: Mianhua Solo Exhibition” will be held in Beijing Today Art Museum, at 4pm , December 11, 2013. This exhibition is curated by Peng Feng, organized by Today Art Museum, co-organized by Air Media, and Undertaker by Beijing Furen Communications. More than 40 pieces of Mianhua’s artworks are displayed to the public during the exhibition period.

Starting her career as an editor, Mianhua took a turn to the new path of visual art in recent years and soon achieved a worldwide fame. Her artworks have been solo exhibited in Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art,etc.; most of them have traveled to a wide range of art museums, expositions and foundations in Europe and Asia. Mianhua endows her visual art creations with a born sensitivity, an intense passion, and a deep insight of humanity. She endeavors to recall the idyllic aura of her childhood life through her installation arts, as well as to present her unique experience of living in a kaleidoscopic modern society in her paintings. The heavy colors, twisted lines and subtle metaphors in Mianhua’s paintings unveil the secret and ecstasy of growing lives, vigorous as a botanic world, mysterious as the vast universe. Her installation artwork, “Dancing with Rhythm”, is constructed by corns, old agricultural tools and machines, revealing the artist’s multiple viewpoints of Chinese traditional art form. As the steps of urbanization speed up, the forgotten songs of wild, uncivilized life revive in Mianhua’s art, along with the artist’s critical sight on our rapidly developing era. Hopefully, when audiences walk into Mianhua’s poetic art world, they will reflect on the reality of human civilization at the same time.

Thy Rhythm--Mianhua solo exhibition lasts until December 24th 2013.
