Zhang Chuang's oil painting skills was trained professionally in the college, and later on advanced with Professor Alexander Claudy in Rome Fine Art Academy in Italy, which was deeply influenced by European classic oil painting and impressionist arts. In recent years, he brought back thousands of photographs of the original masterpieces during his visits in European museums, which is a good example of how dedicated he is in the professional training.
Not only in his painting, ZhangChuang tries to be creative, but also in the technics, he pay close attention to the graphic expression, using lines, composition, decoration to present a sense of lightness and the freshness. He doesn't want to merely inherit the modularized traditional style and technique, he want to create something new with his own eyes, his own heart, something totally from himself. From his painting, we can see that he intentionally weakens the contrast of colors, instead using almost neutralized harmonious colors, but take great emphasis on his favorite usage of the lines, I love the classic complication usage of lines, but he adds modern elements in other areas, like large close-ups, emphasizes graphic composition, which makes his art works looks new and trendy.
