Exhibition Preface

Drawing and its various techniques and modes are currently undergoing a vibrant evolution. Often characterized by its economy of means, it may only be a gesture or mental act, but drawing is undoubtedly a medium that has earned its own autonomy within the possibilities chosen by contemporary artists to show what they are about. Figurative, abstract, monumental, three-dimensional, performative, narrative, textual... contemporary drawing is part of the enormous vitality of current graphic expression, producing new images that use lines to adopt new forms of communication.

The current practice by Spanish artists is related to the importance of the processes of ideation of the work of art, privileged front the execution and the final object. Contemporary sensibility lives a vigorous reconnection with the drawing in which there is no modesty about his alleged anachronism. This new assessment has to do with the immediacy, nudity, unfinished, personal artistic expression.

“Paperwork” is an specialized exhibition that will reveal the richness of the crossgenerational practice of Spanish contemporary drawing to the Chinese public, with a group of 13 artists who have appropriated drawing and work on paper as a preferred medium.
