Exhibition Preface

“Impermanence: the Co-exhibition by Zhao Xiaojia, Zheng Dagong and Lv Zhonglei” designed by Deng Dafei and He Hai starting from August 24th, 2013. The exhibition features the recent oil paintings by the three artists. “The Factories Series” by Zhao Xiaojia retain the former themes and patterns, with red as the key color, adding more elements to the sense of anxiety embodied. The paintings by Zheng Dagong focus on the man-made landscapes, full of the mixed elements from different cultures and different periods. Lv Zhonglei depicts a lot of skinned animals, demonstrating the cruelty of life and death in a very straightforward way.

From the abandoned industrial ruins, to the man-made landscapes of confusing time and space and to the animal bodies cruelly taken alive, this exhibition attempts to present the fast broken process of life, which is called “Impermanence of life” beyond the “common” contexts that are familiar to the audiences.
