In May 2012, a contemporary art exhibition of the renowned Korean Artist Hwang Young Sung will be staged on Today Art Museum. Born in 1941, Hwang Young Sung is one of the most important contemporary artists in Korea, once the professor of the famous Chosun University in Gwangju and now the curator of Gwangju Museum of Art. Since 1970s, Hwang has received many important awards both home and abroad. His works depict the tranquil and beautiful morning scene in Korea and the peaceful life of Korean people. From the perspective of art history, Hwang Young Sung is an artist of national treasure in Korea since he integrates the form of Western art into his works in a most perfect way. Embedded in both his early realistic paintings and in his current abstract and unsophisticated paintings, the consistent theme of his works, Family Story, manifests the significance of FAMILY, which includes the harmony lying between every individual, nature, and artifact in the world, whose value and existence deserves greatest respect.
Hwang Young Sung is a representative Korea artist. There are exhibitions dedicated to him around the world’s most prestigious galleries including those in France, UK, USA, Germany, Italy, New Zealand, Belgium, etc., and his works are widely collected in famous art museums all over the world.
